Winter Adventure on a Budget

You want to live a close encounter with Québec’s nature? You want to live exhilarating experiences in a safe environment and in full autonomy? Then this package is perfect for you! You’ll take advantage of a nature oriented package featuring several winter activities, but also plenty of free times that you can use as you wish. You’ll stay in a Eco-chalet which, as its name indicates, is an ecological type of accommodation located in the midst of a magnificent natural setting, on the shores of the mighty Matawin River. The Eco-chalets are fully equipped with a kitchenette, a complete bathroom as well as wood and electric heating systems.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 Montreal

Montreal Arrival at the airport. Transfer on your own towards the les Suites Labelle Hotel in downtown Montreal.

    Accommodation : Hotel

  • Day 2 Trois-Rives

Trois-Rives After breakfast, a shuttle will pick you up directly at your downtown hotel. You’ll then head towards the Mattawin Adventure Center which is located in the heart of the Mauricie region’s wild territories. After a two hours journey, much of which runs along the scenic St. Maurice Valley, a guide will greet you upon your arrival at the Adventure Center. He will then explain in details the course of your stay and will take you to your Eco-chalet (if available). He’ll also inform you about the different optional activities you’ll have the opportunity to buy on the premises. Once comfortably settled in your Eco-chalet, the adventure can begin! The afternoon will indeed be spent doing a guided hike with nature interpretation. Night in an Eco-chalet of the Mattawin Adventure Center. (B, L, D)

    Accommodation : Eco-Lodge

  • Day 3 Trois Rives

Trois Rives You will live today the extraordinary experience of a snowmobile ride through the wild territories of the Mauricie’s back country. A guide will first give you a theoretical and practical training on how to handle these powerful engines. You’ll then leave for half a day of adventure completely on your own! Prior to your departure, the guide will clearly indicates where are the best trails to safely discover the superb landscapes of our immense natural setting. Please note that the gasoline is at your expense, but that you can cover as many miles as you want in half a day. Night in an Eco-chalet of the Mattawin Adventure Center. (B, L, D)

    Accommodation : Eco-Lodge

  • Day 4 Trois Rives

Trois Rives Today you’ll literally become one with winter during an exhilarating dog sledding experience (half a day). Under the supervision of your “musher” guide, you’ll ride your sled (2 persons per sled) at full speed on the wild trails of the St. Maurice Wildlife Reserve. Feel the wind while it whips your face in a fabulous silence that is only disturbed by the panting of the running hounds. The province of Quebec is a place of choice to live this extraordinary experience: the wide open spaces abound and the dogs are in their element here! A traditional mode of transportation, dog sledding has been extensively used by the Native Canadians as well as by the fur traders, the missionaries and the gold prospectors. Nowadays, this leisure activity allows you to reconcile with nature and to create a unique complicity with the animals. Night in an Eco-chalet of the Mattawin Adventure Center. (B, L, D)

    Accommodation : Eco-Lodge

  • Day 5 Trois Rives

Trois Rives This day can be as active as you want. While some will prefer to relax in the cozy comfort of their Eco-chalet, others will certainly want to reconnect with the child sleeping in them by venturing on one of our thrilling tube sliding trails. You’ll also have access to a network of forest trails you can explore at your own pace during snowshoeing excursions. You’ll finally have the opportunity to buy optional activities on site (ice fishing, snowmobiling, guided activity with a trapper, etc.). Night in an Eco-chalet of the Mattawin Adventure Center. (B, L, D)

    Accommodation : Eco-Lodge

  • Day 6 Montreal or Quebec

Montreal or Quebec Since all good things come to an end, this is unfortunately your last day at the Adventure Center. Like the previous day, you’ll have the opportunity to do the free activity offered on the premises (snowshoeing, tube sliding) or to buy optional activities on the premises. You’ll also have the privilege to take part (free) to our famous Treasure Hunts. They are designed so that each participant is autonomous and free to do the itinerary at its own pace (1h30 to 3h). Back to the Adventure Center, you’ll be called upon to raise your glass in honor of your exploits before the transfer to Montreal. Night at Les Suites Labelle Hotel. (B, L)

Instead of returning to Montreal, you can rather opt for a transfer to Quebec City. If you are interested in this alternative scenario, please see the details in the “Stay in Quebec City” box below.

    Accommodation : Eco-Lodge

  • Day 7 Montreal

Montreal Those who returned to Montreal the night before will take advantage of some free time to discover the city before the airport transfer. (B)

"Stay in Quebec City" Option:  Rather than returning to Montreal on day 6, you now have the opportunity to be transferred in Quebec City where you will also spend the night on day 7 before taking the train back to Montreal on day 8. The package then becomes an 8 days / 7 nights.
